3 Horse Ranch Vineyards

Riesling (Dry) SRV 2016

Snake River Valley Idaho!

This very-close-to-dry (off-dry) Riesling (at .5% RS, or residual sugar) exhibits a lovely bouquet of passion fruit, lemon zest, orange peel, and petrol tones. This Riesling is dry enough to course out with poultry, seafood or salads. However, the finish is not sharp or acerbic, as there is just a touch of sweetness to mitigate the sharp acids in a Riesling. Palate-cleansing acidity and a spicy mineral finish for days makes this an unforgettable aperitif, course pairing, or everyday wine! Thank You from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍇

WINERY SPEC SHEET (pdf download): 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards

COMPOSITION: 100% Snake River Valley Riesling. 12.9% ABV.

AGING: Drinks well now through 2019.

VINTAGE 2016: This Idaho wine grape crop rebounded after a negligible harvest in 2015. A November 2014 freeze sharply reduced the amount of wine grapes available for the 2015 vintage. A tremendous amount of work went in to reconstituting vineyards damaged from the Fall freeze. As a result, growers and vintners experienced 50-100% increases in crop yields in 2016 over those of 2015. This net result is a slightly larger than normal harvest for the State. Some growers even stopped picking the remainder of the bumper crop due to a lack of tank space for wine crush and fermentation. All the numbers were spot on in the fruit for acids, sugars, and flavors. 2016 may prove itself to be one of Idaho's best vintages.

VINEYARDS: Snake River Valley AVA, Idaho

WINEMAKING: Greg Koenig, Consulting Winemaker. Fruit parcels from our German varietal vineyards were vinified separately. After free-run press and fermentation in tanks, malolactic fermentation occurred during barrel maturation in steel barriques for a period of 9 months. The wine experienced a light filtration, fining, and cold stabilization prior to bottling. Bottled: June 2017.

CELLARS: Vinted, Cellared and Bottled in Koenig Winery, Caldwell Idaho (Snake River Valley)

CLOSURE: Traditional Cork

MARKETS: Winery Tasting Room. Wine Club Members across the USA. Fine Dining + Premier Retail Distribution to Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Alaska and Wyoming.
