First Growth @3HorseRanch
Dating back to 1855, the term “First Growth” was coined by wine tradesmen to reference the finest wine producers and their wines of extraordinary quality and value from the Bordeaux wine-growing appellation in France. Today, the original First Growth winery chateaux (Lafite, Latour, Margaux, Haut-Brion, and Mouton-Rothschild) continue to enjoy worldwide acclaim as best-of-the-best.
Similarly, our vision and aspiration for 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards and the newly formed Eagle Foothills AVA (wine-growing appellation in Idaho) is to attain “First Growth” standing among Idaho wineries for consistently producing single-vineyard wines of extraordinary quality and value.
WOW! This superb 2014 vintage was “fantacular” at our barrel tasting last February. We knew it would promise to become and instant classic from our backdoor vineyards at the Ranch! This 100% Single-Vineyard Merlot is bolstered by prominent barrel tannins, ensuring its longevity in the cellar. This is a rare opportunity to own one of the smallest production single-vineyard Merlots in the Pacific Northwest. Just 76 cases were made of this elegant 2014 vintage. Pure fruit tones of blackberries, boysenberries, black currants, and plums coupled with vineyard nuances of earth, sun-dried tomatoes and wheatgrass. Get it, hold it, and open it for people that can appreciate a great wine from a good one! - Thank You from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍇
Powerful, Cellaring Vintage!
This 2014 Sangiovese is celebrated by 3HRV winery staff and our tasting room patrons alike as one of the finest wines we’ve ever produced! Because we are growing the Sangiovese varietal in the warmer climate of Eagle Foothills AVA (Winegrowing Appellation), the end result is a fuller, lush, rich and savory drinking wine, not unlike those of Brunello di Montalcino or Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. The wine was matured partially in new French oak, to add oak spices and barrel tannins, allowing for a protracted, elegant finish. Its wonderful tart cherry, black cherry and currant fruit flavors coupled with naturally high acidity makes for a perfect pairing with tomato-based sauces and dishes. The wine is framed quite nicely with fine barrel tannins and just a hint of oak spice. At only a 174-case production, this Eagle Foothills Sangiovese is not long for this world! Get it while you can! Thank You from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍇
Few Cases Remain!
Wow! Just 196 cases (8 barrels!) were made of this fantastic 100% Single-Vineyard 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from 3 Horse Ranch in the Eagle Foothills AVA . Obvious notes of black and red currants, black cherries, allspice, cloves, nutmeg, anise, and dark cocoa abound. Exceedingly lush and rich, this textured velvety Cabernet offers a protracted finish of finely integrated barrel and grape tannins. This wines continues to gain ground and become more interesting with each passing month. It drinks well now. However, if you can resist, cellar this wine and enjoy 2018 through 2030. Thank You from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍇
A Collector’s Cabernet
OMG, that’s Delish! 96 cases (4 barrels!) were made of this classically-styled, classic-drinking, Old World leaning Cabernet Franc from the Rolling Hills Vineyard in the Eagle Foothills wine appellation. Gary Cunningham consulted on the Rolling Hills project as vineyard manager and harvest director. This lovely vintage is the same Cabernet Franc clone grown at 3 Horse Ranch; cultivated, harvested, and vinified in the same manner. Yet these two single-vineyard cab francs are distinctively different. Buy bottles of each cab franc and enjoy simultaneously for a thrilling food and wine experience! Let’s do this! Thank You from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍇
Classic Old-World Styling
The 2014 Syrah from our backdoor vineyards at 3 Horse Ranch in the Eagle Foothills AVA (Winegrowing Appellation) is perhaps the finest wine we have produced to date. 2014 was an excellent vintage for Idaho, with near perfect growing and harvesting conditions. The fruit came in fully ripe, with well developed elegant tannins. This Syrah was partially matured in New French Oak, to add to its mouthfeel, finish and cellar life. This wine is drinking spot-on now, but will continue to gain complexity for the next five to ten years! Do what we do at the Ranch: Pull the cork and put it to use! Also, Idaho Syrah really makes the meal for ANY season, with notes of pepper, allspice, currants, licorice, smoked meats and leather! Thank You from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍇

Where to begin? Where to end? We all just fell in love with this wine in the cellars, in February 2017 when we tasted barrel samples prior to its bottling. Just 76 cases (3 barrels!) were made of this 100% Single-Vineyard Cabernet Franc from our own backyard vineyards in the Eagle Foothills AVA . It's a bold, opulent dark inky with with silky smooth tannins from both fruit and oak barrels. All of the dark fruits are on full display, among them blackberries, black currants, blueberries, and plums. Hints of wheatgrass and bell pepper verify the tell-tale signature of a well-made Cabernet Franc. This will please audiences today, and thrill audiences in years to come, as it further integrates and matures from cellaring. Going, going, gone! Thank You from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍇
