Meadowlark Hills Vineyard
Eagle Foothills AVA
Vineyard Info: Meadowlark Hills Vineyard was planted in 2010 and currently covers almost 1 acre. There are multiple varieties: Tempranillo, Cab Sauv, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Viognier, Malbecand Sav. Blanc. About half of the vines are Tempranillo.
Eagle Foothills Grape Grower: Richard Benear
After retiring from engineering at HP in 2010, Richard decided to plant wine grapes and make wine. He took 2 semesters of college classes in Viticulture and one in Winemaking. Multiple varieties were planted to study which vines produced best for our local microclimate and terroir. After a few years, Tempranillo appeared to winter-over somewhat better than some of the other varieties, so he expanded the Termpranillo plantings. The 2016 harvest produced about 3.2 tons of grapes from Meadowlark Hills Vineyard. The Termpranillo produced about 2800 lbs in 2014.
