One of our finest efforts from one of Idaho’s finest vintages in years! The 2012 Beau Geste is comprised on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot, all harvest from our backdoor vineyards at 3 Horse Ranch in the Eagle Foothills AVA ! There’s hardly any remaining at the Tasting Room, but if you’re lucky enough to score this decadent creation, it promises to quickly become one of your favorite Idaho wine experiences! Named after a term for beautiful gesture, this wine is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts the other primary Bordeaux varieties blended in. Aromas of dark cherry, black tea, pencil lead and vanilla are followed by well-constructed smoke and dark fruit flavors with grainy, compact tannins that need some time to stretch their legs. - Happy Holidays from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍁🍇

COMPOSITION: Majority Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petite Verdot. 14.3% ABV.

AGING: This wine gains complexity and pays dividends from cellaring. Drinks well 2017-2022.

VINTAGE 2014: Warm temperatures and an abundant, early crop produced picture-perfect grapes with soft tannins in the reds. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot had vintners most excited. With no rain, no early freezes and a harvest that was mostly done by Halloween (about two weeks ahead of usual), Washington vintners were all smiles. With no heat spikes and cool nighttime temperatures, the acidity balances in these young wines was ideal. Even though it was a warm harvest, generally the whites were of superb quality, while the reds garnered elegant tannins.    

VINEYARDS: Columbia Valley, Washington

WINEMAKING: Greg Koenig, Consulting Winemaker. Fruit parcels from our Bordeaux varietal vineyards were vinified separately. After maceration and fermentation on skins, malolactic fermentation occurred during barrel maturation in a mix of new and old barriques - French, American and Hungarian in origin - for a period of 26 months. Bottled: February 2017.

CELLARS: Vinted, Cellared and Bottled in Koenig Winery, Caldwell Idaho (Snake River Valley)

CLOSURE: Traditional Cork
