Our Snake River Valley Syrah-Mourvèdre offers lively notes of red currant, blackberry, black plum, cocoa powder, bay leaf, mulberry, green olive, brown stems, peppery spices, and dried flowers. This medium-bodied, seductive red is tied together within a structure of polished tannins and red currant acidity. The fruit flavors are sweet, rich and pure while showing a pleasing sense of restraint.

WINERY SPEC SHEET (pdf download): 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards

COMPOSITION: 80% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre. 14.2% ABV.

AGING: This wine gains complexity and pays dividends from cellaring. Drinks well 2017-2022.

VINTAGE 2013: Snake River Valley produced modest wine grape crop yields, but of high-quality in 2013. A combination of an unusually chilly winter, a late Spring frost event, and a spell of short-but-significant rains in September shuffled the usual order in which varieties ripened and readied for harvest. While the Idaho Wine Commission reported that yields across the state were slightly lighter than 2012, the flavors were more concentrated in the fruit, giving winemakers a delicious foundation for the vintage. The Snake River Valley's hot June and July months and a pleasant, overall sunny autumn set the tone for the rest of the harvest. Winemakers in the region reported outstanding quality in the 2013 Syrah, Merlot, Malbec, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Cabernet Sauvignon, with equally delicious but slightly limited Riesling.

Bottled: Summer 2015.
