Eagle Foothills AVA

Sangiovese SV EFH 2014

Curlew Vineyard

This 2014 Sangiovese is celebrated by 3HRV winery staff and our tasting room patrons alike as one of the finest wines we’ve ever produced! Because we are growing the Sangiovese varietal in the warmer climate of Eagle Foothills AVA (Winegrowing Appellation), the end result is a fuller, lush, rich and savory drinking wine, not unlike those of Brunello di Montalcino or Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. The wine was matured partially in new French oak, to add oak spices and barrel tannins, allowing for a protracted, elegant finish. Its wonderful tart cherry, black cherry and currant fruit flavors coupled with naturally high acidity makes for a perfect pairing with tomato-based sauces and dishes. The wine is framed quite nicely with fine barrel tannins and just a hint of oak spice. At only a 174-case production, this Eagle Foothills Sangiovese is not long for this world! Get it while you can! Thank You from @3HorseRanch ! 🤠🍷🍇

🏆 86 POINTS: Wine Enthusiast

WINERY SPEC SHEET (pdf download): 3 Horse Ranch Vineyards

COMPOSITION: 100% Single Vineyard Sangiovese. 14.2% ABV.

AGING: This wine gains complexity and pays dividends from cellaring. Drinks well 2017-2022.

VINTAGE 2014: The Snake River Valley harvest was as close to ideal as it gets. The region enjoyed a nice warm summer with perfect diurnal swings (or night time cooling off temperatures) that allowed for picture perfect ripening conditions for whites and reds. An unusually long growing season started in the early Spring and extended into late Fall. Harvest began in mid-September for whites and ran through the very end of October for red varietals.

VINEYARDS: Eagle Foothills District AVA : Snake River Valley AVA Idaho

Bottled: Summer 2016.

CELLARS: Vinted, Cellared and Bottled in Koenig Winery, Caldwell Idaho (Snake River Valley)

CLOSURE: Traditional Cork
